VEDA

VEDA (Vocational Education to Address Dropouts)

Introduction & Objective: VEDA is a strategic initiative by Madhya Pradesh to reduce dropout rates after Class 8 by integrating vocational education into higher secondary schools while enabling students to continue academics through open school enrollment. The program aims to make education more accessible, practical, and aligned with employment opportunities, ensuring that students gain both skills and qualifications.

Program Design & Implementation: The initiative replaces the cluster-based model with vocational sessions in all higher secondary schools, supported by dual-mode education through open schools. It ensures curriculum alignment between vocational and academic tracks and involves key stakeholders like TESDE, the Department of School Education, and the Vocational Education Cell. Implementation includes a pilot phase, infrastructure upgrades, teacher training, and community engagement to align education with local economic needs.

Expected Outcomes & Conclusion: VEDA is expected to significantly reduce dropout rates, enhance students’ skill sets, and strengthen educational infrastructure. It offers a replicable model for other regions facing similar challenges. By combining vocational training with academic flexibility, VEDA empowers students with practical pathways to success and contributes to a more inclusive and skilled future workforce in Madhya Pradesh.
